Considering that this was the final book in the Heroes of Olympus series, I had high expectations for The Blood of Olympus. However, I must confess that I was a little disappointed, and for much of the same reasons that other reviewers have posted: the shunting off to the side of Percy and Annabeth, the relative ease of the defeat of Gaea (especially after the four-book build-up to her appearance), and the numerous plot holes and loose ends (and just why did Jason need to have glasses all of a sudden?).
Towards the end of the story, I was beginning to think that Rick Riordan was planning on a sixth book to properly tie everything up. No such luck. The series is over, and we are left to ponder what might have been.
I think the problem might have been that there were just too many characters. Each one had an interesting storyline on their own, but it would have been too hard to flesh them all out in one (or even several) book(s).
