Because of Mr. Terupt is a heartfelt homage to those special teachers who make (or have made) a positive impact in our lives.

Mr. Terupt is a new fifth grade teacher, and unlike anyone his students have encountered. He is innovative and fun in his teaching methods, patience with his class and their occasional antics, and always seems to know what to say or do to correct bad behavior, or to bring encouragement. Still, his greatest lessons for the kids come at a time when he is not able to teach.

Through the viewpoints of his students, we see their struggles with grief, guilt, and isolation, and how Mr. Terupt manages to find a way to initiate healing and forgiveness.
