2003 East Coast Road Trip, Part 7-South Carolina

Disclaimer: Most of what is written below is a word-for-word account from my travel journal written in 2003. I did have to edit some of the content to make my account a little less dull. I also added a few hindsight comments in italics here and there. Some of the pictures included are my own and not the greatest quality (disposable camera, you know 😉 ).

Today has not been filled with notable events (as yet), but it has been a quality day. I slept in, cleaned up, read a little, and then went to a cafeteria lunch with Mitch and Taylor. Following lunch, I hopped on my friend’s computer and looked over a paper that Taylor had written and wanted proofread (I knew there was a reason why I was invited there…)

What a long, long day it has been. Mitch, Taylor, and I planned to spend the day in Charlotte, and then go to a minor league baseball game in South Carolina. We started out in a major traffic jam, and then it started getting really warm out.

This didn’t improve things. We finally made it down to the ballpark to purchase tickets for this evening. For $9 each, we picked up box seats, almost behind home plate. With our spirits high, we returned to Charlotte to hang out until game time…
…Game time rolled around, and we’re all excited about seeing the Charlotte Knights (the White Sox AAA affiliate) charlotte-knights-new-logo-and-wordmarkplay the Indianapolis Indians (the Brewers AAA affiliate). IndianapolisIndiansWe get to our seats, and then…rain. It rained and rained and rained. Finally, the game was cancelled before it had even begun. Needless to say, we were very disappointed, especially me, because although Mitch and Taylor could return for a rain check, I could not.
…Well, it’s almost 2 AM. I need to get up at a semi-decent hour so I can get a few things done before I begin my long journey home. I can’t believe my vacation is coming to an end…
