This is a pretty typical story about a father heading to the corner store for milk for his kids’ cereal…and then being abducted by aliens who threaten to redecorate the planet (or so the father claims). Then there were the pirates…aaaand the time-traveling dinosaur in a hot-air balloon…and a volcano god.
Needless to say, this is a story packed with good, clean silliness and adventure as the devoted dad does all he can to ensure that his children have a complete breakfast.
Others may disagree, but this story reminds me a lot of Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, but without the biting satire. It’s a short book, (the audiobook edition, read by Gaiman, lasts an hour) and well worth the read!
